As a clinician, my goal is to create a safe and collaborative environment in which I can help clients along their journey to better mental health. I love getting to know clients and their backgrounds. By providing supportive therapy, clients can experience the growth, change, and healing they seek. I continuously strive to better myself as a clinician. Therapy is a journey I take alongside my clients
to develop and implement lasting, positive change. I help clients explore what works and does not work in their lives. I am also open to incorporating aspects of spirituality. I incorporate mindfulness, solution focused and cognitive behavioral tools. Through genuine empathy and a little humor, I help empower clients to accomplish their goals while cultivating resilience and a deeper self-understanding.
I have experience providing therapy to clients in both a psychiatric hospital and private practice setting. I work with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, interpersonal relationship issues, and life adjustment issues. I have experience working with special education students as an instructional assistant. Additionally, I worked with parents and children as a custody evaluator.

“Ida is great at listening and is very friendly and it is therapeutic to work with her.”
“I’ve been counseling with Ida for a couple of weeks. So far, I’m feeling really good. I’m totally comfortable with her and I feel like she comes to the conversations with solutions that she wants me to collaborate with her on. I never feel like I’m being told what to do.”
"Ida just has this extremely calming and reassuring energy to her. I immediately felt a connection with her in our first session. She doesn’t ever try to rush through any of our sessions, she takes the time to actually find the root of the problem and helps come up with a solution to them.”

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in the treatment of mental health disorders, emotional difficulties, relationship struggles, and overall life challenges. My goal in therapy is to provide a safe place where there is unconditional positive regard and a nonjudgmental approach, so you can share your story and feel heard and understood.
I use an integrative approach that derives from Person Centered, Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral, and Cognitive Behavioral therapies. For relationship issues within couples, I refer a lot to the teachings and research from the Gottman Method and Imago Therapy.
I believe that therapy should be conducted within a person-centered framework that helps foster personal growth and development, eliminates or mitigates feelings of distress, increases self-esteem and openness to experience, and enhances the client's understanding of him- or herself all in a non-judgmental way. I explore cognitive and behavioral constructs that lead to unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving and strive to implement positive and adaptive coping strategies. When working with families and couples, my goal is to identify areas of gridlock, examine and refine/replace any current maladaptive communication patterns, and explore each person’s perspective to facilitate a much deeper level of understanding and better fulfilment of needs.
I will use the therapeutic modality that is best suited for you and your presenting challenge. Each client is unique and therefor you should expect a tailored treatment plan that will provide the best possible solution to address the areas or behaviors you seek to change. I will challenge you at times and will stress the importance of homework and self-practice between sessions, all for your benefit. I will work in collaboration with you so that you are an instrumental part of your own therapy.
Lisa obtained a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Houston in Texas and a Bachelor of Arts Psychology degree from the University of Missouri- Columbia. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Texas, with over 10 years of clinical experience.
